Check the easy options first
Call the building manager, landlord or a colleague who holds a key. Many multi-tenant buildings have after-hours contacts posted at the entrance.
If you need a locksmith
Have ID ready and be prepared to show you are authorized to enter, such as a business card, lease or a call to the owner. Tell the locksmith the door type: glass storefront, steel door or office suite.
If keys are lost or a staff member left
Once inside, think about who might have the missing key. Rekeying the affected locks is quick and cuts off the old key completely.
Making the next lockout unlikely
Keypad or smart locks let you change codes instead of keys. A master key system means managers carry one key for every door. Read about keyless entry locks.
